Autonomous driving maneuvers at Munich University of Applied Sciences – the VDI Autonomous Driving Challenge 2020
The first VDI Autonomous Driving Challenge with digitalwerk’s ADAS model car at Munich University of Applied Sciences was successfully held.
On 13 March, 2020, two student teams (the third registered team was unfortunately unable to travel due to travel restrictions to contain CoVid-19) competed against each other with their ADAS model vehicles in various competitions.
The first round was the introduction round: Here, the jury led by Prof. Dr. Markus Krug (Munich University of Applied Sciences) evaluated the teams’ vehicle concepts before moving on to the dynamic tasks.
In terms of dynamic tasks, the model vehicles had to autonomously solve different parking situations in flowing traffic. Among other things, the ADAS model car developed by digitalwerk was used for this challenge. The vehicles mastered all tasks very quickly and particularly safely.
For the speed tasks, the teams then used heavily modified vehicles. Here, not only the best programming but also the best engineering performance prevailed.
The winner of the competition was the “Adrive Living Lab” team after a strong time on the circuit. They will therefore be fighting to defend their title at the next event on 09 October 2020.
We congratulate the winning team and would like to thank the University of Applied Sciences Munich for the successful cooperation.
