Facilitating the software developer’s job: digitalwerk releases ADTF version 3.6 with improved UX design

Over 8,000 licences of the ADAS software framework ADTF (Automotive Data and Time-Triggered Framework) are currently in active use. The software development company digitalwerk, the exclusive holder of the distribution and development licence of ADTF since 2017, is continuously working on software updates with the aim of making ADAS function development easier for users through the framework. With the launch of version 3.6, ADTF users can look forward to an improved user interface as well as a new UX design.

The user interface of ADTF version 3.6 has been significantly improved by applying modern UX guidelines. Together with the redesign of various editors as well as the simplification of Filter SDK, this leads to a more intuitive use of ADTF for the user. With the new development of the night mode “Dark Theme” digitalwerk makes the recording of vehicle data in dark working environments even more comfortable for the user. The continuous improvements in performance and UI stability also make a significant contribution to the new UX. Key factor in the further development of ADTF by digitalwerk are the users of the software framework. The implemented software updates of ADTF by digitalwerk result from the feedback of those people who develop ADAS functions in ADTF on a daily basis.

“With the release of ADTF version 3.6, we are taking the UX of the ADAS software framework to a whole new level,” says digitalwerk founder and CEO Frank Fichtner. However, the launch of the new software version does not mean that digitalwerk’s developers are standing still. The team is already working on a new release of ADTF. As innovations, digitalwerk is striving for the introduction of a distributed system as well as further improvements in usability through, for example, tooling-supported automatisms. “Improving the UX is a continuous process. Which innovations will already be introduced with the next ADTF version, will depend on the preferences of the ADTF users” explains CTO Tobias Schmid and puts the user in the centre of attention for all future ADTF software updates. Digitalwerk thus remains true to its line when it comes to making the software developer’s work easier.

Automotive Data and Time-Triggered Framework – ADTF for short – is a software framework for the development of intelligent driver assistance systems by Audi Electronics Venture GmbH. The unique selling point of ADTF is the time-synchronous processing of multiple sensor data streams. The driver assistance and safety functions programmed in the development platform can be easily visualised and tested virtually at the desk thanks to the integrated test environment. Developments such as adaptive cruise control, gesture controls, adaptive cornering lights and predictive pedestrian protection have emerged from the software framework. The software framework is used by German premium car manufacturers and TIER1 suppliers. As the holder of the exclusive development and distribution licence of ADTF, digitalwerk has been regularly publishing revised versions of the ADAS software framework since 2017.
