Five years of digitalwerk – Regensburg-based ADAS software specialist celebrates company anniversary

In 2015, digitalwerk laid the foundation for its success story in the field of software development for ADAS Tools & Framework. Five years later, the Regensburg-based company has not only completed a number of major projects in the field of ADAS software development and obtained the sales and development licence for ADTF, an ADAS software framework, but has also built up a stable network of sales partners and steadily grown its workforce. digitalwerk looks back on 1,828 days of software development for the autonomous future of tomorrow.

With only two employees, the software company digitalwerk started its business operations in November 2015 with a focus on ADAS tools & frameworks. Already in summer 2016, the team was expanded by ten experts for the development of the automotive software framework with the receipt of the distribution and development licence for ADTF – Automotive Data and Time-Triggered Framework – from Audi Electronics Venture. In the course of this, the offices in the Regensburg industrial park were moved to, where the creative centre of the digitalwerk programmers is still located today. In 2017, the specialist for ADAS software tools reached another important milestone by obtaining the exclusive ADTF distribution and development license from Audi Electronics Venture. Since then, digitalwerk has regularly published new releases of ADTF and is constantly developing new offers around ADTF. A specially created support platform as well as practical training courses are part of these services in the ADTF ecosystem with the clear aim of making it easier for users and developers to handle the software framework.

In addition to the continuous expansion of the ADTF offer, its distribution is also part of the project assignment. From the beginning, digitalwerk has worked reliably with international sales partners on this task. The first cooperations were entered into shortly after the foundation in 2016 with the companies Elektrobit and XKRUG. With ETAS in 2017 and TTTech in 2018, two more partners completed digitalwerk’s sales network.

Since its founding, the two-man operation has become a well-coordinated team that, in addition to the stable project situation, has managed to develop digtialwerk into an attractive employer. Before Corona, joint lunch rounds were regularly organized and kicker tournaments held. Company events such as ski trips, company runs, Christmas parties and summer festivals as well as team-building measures such as a trip to Area 47 in Austria were an integral part of the corporate culture. The joint activities are to be continued again in the future after the pandemic.

In November 2020, on its 5th anniversary, the digitalwerk team now numbers 35 employees. Recently, the management team was expanded to include long-time project manager Enrico Engel. digitalwerk was able to use the Corona period intensively to work more intensively on its own products and to position them on the market. The Reference Toolbox for connecting inertial systems and the ARXML Parser for bus data analysis are both used in the ADTF circle of users. “We look back with pride on the past five years of digitalwerk,” Engel is pleased to say and at the same time finds words of gratitude: “First and foremost, our thanks go to all employees as well as customers and partners who have accompanied us on our path over the past five years.” Currently, digitalwerk’s management team is working on a new strategic direction so that the company can continue its success story in the next five years.
